Prepare USB Stick for BIOS Update

Copy Insyde Firmware Flash Tool to USB-Stick

The BIOS-Update-USB Stick is now ready for updating and flashing BIOS images.

Attention: keyboard layout is US by default in the BIOS setup!
Insert BIOS-Update-USB Stick stick to a Starterkit USB port
First enable @bios_me_txe_enable@ option in the BIOS Menu @bios_me_enable_path@
<F10> to save the settings and reboot the system
After reboot navigate into the EFI Shell (Boot Manager > Internal EFI Shell)
After starting the EFI Shell switch path to the USB stick by typing fs0:
. This depends on the amount of connected mass storage devices. With command ls
you can check the content of the path.
Launch BIOS update
H2OFFT_Sx64.efi @bios_image_name@_@bios_image_version@.bin @bios_update_parameter@
⇒ BIOS will reboot into EFI shell after the update has finished succesfully
Shell> exit
Boot from the external BIOS
The BIOS source can be selected on the (@mod_name@) SPI flash via connector @bios_jumper_mb@ on @mb_name@.

Supported external SPI flash devices
The following SPI flash devices are supported:

@mod_name@ Flash BIOS to Carrier SPI Flash Chip
Flashing the Carrier SPI Chip is only possible with a working module.
How to:
Connect USB key with desired BIOS file and Insyde Update Tool „H2OFFT-Sx64“
Open the Boot Jumper @bios_jumper_mb@ (on Carrier)
Apply the supply voltage of 12 V; The sytem boot in the EFI Shell
Enable “@bios_me_txe_enable@” in the BIOS and press F10 to save the configuration an reset the module
Navigate into the EFI-Shell
In the EFI Shell, switch path to the USB key
Close the Boot Jumper @bios_jumper_mb@ (on Carrier)
Execute BIOS Update with the following commands:
Shell> fs0: <Enter>
fs0:> H2OFFT_Sx64.efi @bios_image_name@_@bios_image_version@.bin @bios_update_parameter@ -N
Open the Boot Jumper @bios_jumper_mb@ (on Carrier) after a successful BIOS Update
Turn off the supply voltage
Finish. Now you can update modules with the Carrier SPI Flash Chip

To recover the onboard BIOS with the Carrier SPI Flash Chip, a preflashed BIOS SPI Chip is required.

After successful BIOS Update reset the Module
Finished. You have successfully recovered the onboard BIOS
